If You Aren't Watching "Queen Bees" turned "Sharks," You're Missing Out

“Black women are and have always been pioneers and titans of industry -- from Madame CJ Walker to Lisa Price of Carole's Daughter (one of the guest judges on ‘Queen Boss’). We are proud to help nurture the next wave of women taking over!” --Zola Mashariki, Executive Vice President, Head of Original Programming, BET Networks.

Attention all entrepreneurs, women of color, and supporters!

At an urban, public research university where we value diversity and inclusion as two of our most critical pillars, it's encouraging to see a show called "Queen Boss" take the airwaves. BET and Centric are now airing the Shark Tank-style show that puts the ideas of women of color business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs front and center -- finally!

Forbes writer Geri Stengel recently highlighted the new series, pointing out a need for more portrayals of all women in the pursuit of business success -- not luck in love.

The winner will receive $25,000 toward their chosen entrepreneurial endeavor and perhaps the coolest crown ever, the title of the first ever "Queen Boss."

Hopefully this show will not only help get some incredible start-ups off the ground, but spark the ideas and confidence of more women to take their ideas and run with them.
